It has actually been the opposite here. It has been hot, hot, hot and sunny! This weekend was full of yard work. Yup, we chose the hottest weekend, maybe even record-breaking, to do as much yard work as possible. We had a line of about 12 ferns in our front yard that we decided to pull out. We had maybe 20 ferns lining our driveway that we also decided to pull out. And then there were the three ginormous bushes that also went including the infamous dead tooth. This is the name I gave the big, dead bush at the start of our driveway. An ugly scab on our house.
Can it be summer yet? And by that, I mean margarita season? And by margarita season, I mean, when is it going to be warm? My second winter in Washington, and I am about to lose my mind. Some would say I am being greedy since we had a beautiful, sunny, 60 degree day this past weekend. But I want more! Also, I would like more that don’t involve seasonal allergies. I am a sniffling mess strung out on allergy meds already.
This post may sound timely since it comes right after Thanksgiving and right before the holidays, but I am feeling very unhealthy. And no, it isn’t because I just ate my body’s weight worth of food over this past week. I have felt this way for a while! I think it all started right before my big move.
Actually, the moon sounds nice right about now. But, here is a lovely video of a song that was originally sung by Ernie of Bert and Ernie. Let’s all go back to our 5-year-old selves and dream about visiting the moon! Let’s all enjoy the weekend.
Not much was accomplished this weekend. I started watching a new show on Netflix and did loads and loads of laundry. Sometimes, it feels absolutely wonderful to have a low-key weekend full of absolutely pure laziness. Now, if you are like me and have had several weekends in a row that you have not accomplished anything… I am restless.
Since I started seriously baking things from scratch on my own, my skills have developed. Along with the expansion of my skills, my taste in the quality of ingredients has also developed. Any baker knows that vanilla extract is your best friend when you are baking. And I have used them all, and I am here to say that what you use for your vanilla extract can affect your final product.
Lately, I’ve been down in the dumps. It has started to rain here, and I feel like I am getting sick. Whine, whine, whine. I could go on and on about why every thing that has ever existed is so terrible, but I will not.
I know that there are other people that are feeling the same way. Every person has their own unique and valid reason for feeling this way, so instead of whining, I want to dedicate this post to those people. A few encouraging words to change our thoughts. Or just words. Just words being shot out into the universe along with all the other babble.
Take it or leave it folks. They have helped me. I hope they will help you too.
Warning: One bad word after the jump. Don’t click through if you cannot handle the F word..
Oh my dearest, sweetest, dingle-hopper Lucy. So this happened last Thursday morning. The boy takes Lucy out for her morning “routine” before he heads out to work. He then pops her back into the house. She usually finds her way back into the bathroom and sits by my feet while I finish getting ready. This particular morning, it was taking her a while to come find me. I gave her a quick call, and I didn’t really look, but I knew she was walking around behind me.
As far as the eye can see this weekend, rain. I plan on keeping myself home and indoors once again this weekend. I think it always takes me an adjustment period before I can start coexisting with the rain. Until I feel like that time has come, I will spend this weekend baking, finally reading Hunger Games, buying things on Etsy, and taking care of my patient.
